Since Memorial Day weekend 2003, the congregation of Lorain Christian Temple Disciples of Christ has placed flags one it side lawn, one flag for each service person killed in Iraq or Afghanistan.

This year the congregation with the assistance of the congregation of El Faro Disciples of Christ, members of the Rotary Club of Lorain, Boy Scout Troop 336 and many community member placed 5,500 flags on the side lawn to commemorate the lives lost in the present conflicts and to the community to pause during the Memorial Weekend to offer prayers for the families who have lost loved ones, and to offer prayers for peace. This non sectarian, non political display is offered each year to the community as a call to remembrance.  Three days were originally planned for the completion of the project but there so many volunteers the first day that the project was completed by noon. The Rev. Dr. Brad Donahue is the Senior Pastor of the Church. Pastor Crucita Marrero is the pastor of El Faro.

In partnership with Lorain Cooperative Ministry, 2^nd Harvest Food Bank, and El Faro Disciples of Christ a  Choice Pantry is hosted on the second Wednesday of each month. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Clients must meet USDA eligibility requirements.
